How To: Update Product Pricing Using Price Book Import/Export
Brief description
Use the Price Book export and import functionality to update product pricing in bulk. The import/export process is designed for pricing updates only and does not support adding new products or updating the Sellable field.
[Steps]
- Export the Price Book
- Navigate to Environment Settings > Finance Settings > Price Books.
- Select the Price Book you want to update.
- Open the Products tab.
- Click Export Excel File.
Validation:
- Confirm the Excel file has been downloaded successfully.
- Confirm the file contains the current products and pricing information.
- Update product pricing
- Open the exported Excel file.
- Update the required product pricing fields.
- Save the file once all pricing changes have been completed.
Validation:
- Confirm the pricing changes have been entered correctly.
- Confirm the file format and column structure have not been altered.
- Import the updated Price Book
- Return to Environment Settings > Finance Settings > Price Books.
- Select the same Price Book.
- Open the Products tab.
- Click Import Excel File.
- Upload the updated Excel file.
Validation:
- Confirm the import completes successfully without errors.
- Confirm the updated pricing is reflected in the Price Book.
- Add new products (if required)
- Do not use the import process to add new products.

To add products to a Price Book, use:
- + All Products, or
- + Product
Validation:
- Confirm the new products appear in the Price Book after being added.
Final Outcome
Product pricing is updated in the selected Price Book using the export and import process. New products are added separately using the available product addition options.

Expected Outcome
- Product pricing updates are successfully applied.

Additional Notes
- The import process must use a file generated from the Export Excel File function.
- Importing files that were not exported from the Price Book is not supported.
- The Price Book import/export functionality is intended for updating pricing information only.
- Updating the Sellable field through import is not supported.
- Adding new products through import is not supported and may result in import errors.
