Issues when using VM Ware or other virtual machines to run Measure with NOAH

Quick summary

Measure is not supported in virtual machine environments such as VMware. If you're running Measure in a VM and experiencing issues, the resolution is to move Measure to a physical machine. NOAH, however, can be run in supported virtual environments.

⚙️ Before you begin

  • Confirm whether Measure is currently installed on a physical machine or a virtual machine.

Step 1: Confirm whether you're running Measure in a virtual machine

Are you running Measure on a virtual machine (e.g. VMware, Hyper-V, or another virtualisation tool)?

  • Yes → Measure is not supported in virtual environments. Performance and functionality cannot be guaranteed. Proceed to Step 2 to install Measure on a physical machine.
  • No → You're on a physical machine. Proceed to Step 3 to check for software updates.

Step 2: Install Measure on a physical machine

Have you installed Measure on a physical machine that meets the minimum system requirements?

  • Yes → Proceed to Step 3.
  • No → Take these steps:
  1. Obtain a physical machine that meets Measure system requirements. Contact Auditdata Support if you're unsure of the requirements.
  2. Install Measure on the physical machine.
  3. Test whether Measure functions correctly.

Check if the issue is resolved. If yes - you're done ✓. If no - continue to Step 3.

Step 3: Check for software updates

Are both Measure and Windows updated to the latest versions?

  • Yes → Proceed to the escalation path below.
  • No → Take these steps:
  1. Go to Settings → Windows Update and install all pending updates.
  2. Update Measure to the latest version.
  3. Restart your computer and test again.

Check if the issue is resolved. If yes - you're done ✓. If no - proceed to the escalation path below.

⚠️ Special conditions

NOAH in virtual machines: While Measure is not supported in virtual environments, HIMSA does support running the Noah System in a virtual single-session machine environment (e.g. VMware Workstation). HIMSA uses VMware Workstation extensively for quality testing of Noah System and for certification testing of fitting and measurement modules. Most users implement virtual machines only with the Noah server, but Noah client and non-networked installations are also supported. For NOAH-specific assistance, contact support@himsa.dk.

🔺 Escalation path

If none of the above steps resolved the issue, contact Auditdata Support.

Please have ready:

  • Device model and serial number
  • Software version and device firmware version
  • Whether Measure is installed on a physical or virtual machine
  • Your account name and contact details
  • Which steps above you already tried
  • Any error messages or unusual behaviour observed

✅ Expected outcome

After moving Measure to a physical machine and keeping software up to date, Measure should run correctly with full functionality. If you only need NOAH in a virtual environment, that is supported - see the note above.

📝 Additional notes

  • Measure has not been tested in virtual machine environments and is not supported there - issues experienced in a VM may not be reproducible or fixable by Auditdata Support.
