Step 1: Check cable connections
Is the Measure device properly connected with the USB cable and power supply?
- ✅ Yes → Proceed to Step 2.
- ❌ No → Disconnect and firmly reconnect the USB cable and power supply. Check if the Measure device now shows as connected in Measure.
→ Check if the issue is resolved. If yes - you're done ✓. If no - continue to Step 2.
Step 2: Try an alternative USB connection
Is the Measure device connected directly to a USB port on the PC (not through a hub, switch, or extension)?
- ✅ Yes, and using the original cable → Proceed to Step 3.
- ❌ No → Take these steps:
- Remove any USB hub, switch, or extension cable.
- Connect the Measure device directly to a USB port on the PC.
- If still not detected, try a different USB port on the PC.
- If still not detected, try a different USB cable.
→ Check if the issue is resolved. If yes - you're done ✓. If no - continue to Step 3.
Step 3: Verify device recognition in Windows
Is the Measure device listed under Sound devices in Windows Device Manager?
- ✅ Yes → Proceed to Step 4.
- ❌ No → Use the USBDeview tool (nirsoft.net) to check whether the PC can see the Measure device at all. If the device is not visible via USBDeview, the board or cable may be faulty - contact Auditdata Support.
→ Check if the issue is resolved. If yes - you're done ✓. If no - continue to Step 4.
Step 4: Confirm the device serial number
Does the serial number of the Measure device match the serial number registered in Measure?
- ✅ Yes → Proceed to Step 5.
- ❌ No → The serial numbers must match for the device to connect. Contact Auditdata Support - this may require a licence update.
→ Check if the issue is resolved. If yes - you're done ✓. If no - continue to Step 5.
Step 5: Check security software settings
Could antivirus software or a firewall be blocking the Measure device connection?
- ✅ Yes → Adjust your antivirus or firewall settings to allow Measure connections. Temporarily disabling security software to test the connection can help confirm whether it is the cause.
→ Check if the issue is resolved. If yes - re-enable security software and add Measure as an exception ✓. If no - continue to Step 6. * ❌ No → Proceed to Step 6.
Step 6: Verify operating system compatibility
Are you running Windows RT?
- ✅ Yes → Measure does not support Windows RT. You will need to use a PC running a compatible version of Windows. Contact Auditdata Support for guidance on supported operating systems.
- ❌ No → Proceed to the escalation path below.
