No Sound from Speech CD

Quick summary

No audio is heard from the speech CD during testing in Measure. This is typically caused by the CD media folder not being configured in Measure, or the sound files not being calibrated. This guide walks you through adding, configuring, and calibrating your CD media folder.

⚙️ Before you begin

  • Know where your CD sound files are stored (local folder path or network location accessible by Measure).
  • Make sure you have the CD sound files in a supported format: wav, ogg, or wma.

Step 1: Add a CD media folder in Measure

Is a CD media folder already added in Measure?

  • Yes → Proceed to Step 2.
  • No → Take these steps:
  1. Open Measure.
  2. Go to Tools → Settings → CD and Media Files Folders.
  3. Click Add to add a new folder.

→ Proceed to Step 2 to configure the folder.

Step 2: Configure the media folder

Is the media folder correctly configured with a name, folder path, and CD scheme?

  • Yes → Proceed to Step 3.
  • No → Take these steps:
  1. In the Custom Media Files Folder window, enter a Name for the folder.
  2. Click Browse to select the Folder Path where your sound files are located.
  3. Select the CD Scheme that matches your speech material.
  4. Click OK to save.

Check if sound plays. If yes - you're done ✓. If no - continue to Step 3.

Step 3: Calibrate the sound files

Have the sound files been calibrated in Measure?

  • Yes → Proceed to the escalation path below.
  • No → Take these steps:
  1. In the CD and Media Files Folders settings, select your media folder and click Calibrate.
  2. Select the calibration track or sound.
  3. Adjust the offset as needed.
  4. Click Save, then OK to save the calibration settings.

One calibration value applies to all external sound files and is used across all transducers in Speech Mapping and Speech Audiometry.

Check if the issue is resolved. If yes - you're done ✓. If no - proceed to the escalation path below.

🔺 Escalation path

If none of the above steps resolved the issue, contact Auditdata Support.

Please have ready:

  • Device model and serial number
  • Device firmware version
  • Measure software version
  • Your account name and contact details
  • Which steps above you already tried
  • Any error messages or unusual behaviour observed
  • Whether sound files are stored locally or on a network

✅ Expected outcome

After completing these steps, speech CD audio should play correctly in Measure, with the external sound files properly integrated and calibrated across all transducers.

📝 Additional notes

  • Speech CD files must be stored locally on the PC or on a network location that Measure can reliably access.
  • Only one calibration value is stored for all external sound files - recalibrating one file updates the calibration applied to all.
  • Keep Measure updated to avoid media compatibility issues.
