Speech from CD is not fully pronounced

Quick summary

Speech audio from a CD is cut off or incomplete during playback in Measure. This is typically caused by the wrong CD scheme being selected, media files that haven't been calibrated, or sound files stored in a location Measure cannot access.

⚙️ Before you begin

  • Make sure Measure is open and the CD is loaded or the sound files are available.
  • Know where your CD sound files are stored (local folder path).

Step 1: Check the CD scheme

Is the correct CD scheme selected in Measure?

  • Yes → Proceed to Step 2.
  • No → Take these steps:
  1. Open Measure.
  2. Go to Tools → Settings → CD and Media Files Folders.
  3. Select the appropriate CD scheme for your speech material.
  4. Save the settings.

Check if the issue is resolved. If yes - you're done ✓. If no - continue to Step 2.

Step 2: Re-add and calibrate the media files

Have the CD media files been re-added and calibrated in Measure?

  • Yes → Proceed to Step 3.
  • No → Take these steps:
  1. Go to Tools → Settings → CD and Media Files Folders.
  2. Click Add and select the folder containing your sound files (wav, ogg, or wma format).
  3. In the Custom Media Files Folder window, set the Name, Folder Path, and the CD Scheme that matches your sound files.
  4. Click Calibrate, select the calibration track, adjust the offset, then click Save → OK.

One calibration value applies to all external sound files across Speech Mapping and Speech Audiometry - it is applied to all transducers.

Check if the issue is resolved. If yes - you're done ✓. If no - continue to Step 3.

Step 3: Verify file location and access

Are the sound files stored locally on the PC (not on a network drive)?

  • Yes → Proceed to the escalation path below.
  • No → Take these steps:
  1. Copy the sound files to a local folder on the PC (e.g. C:\MeasureMedia\).
  2. Update the folder path in Measure: Tools → Settings → CD and Media Files Folders → select the folder → update the path to the local location.
  3. Verify that Measure has read permission on the folder.
  4. Save the settings and test playback again.

Check if the issue is resolved. If yes - you're done ✓. If no - proceed to the escalation path below.

🔺 Escalation path

Please have ready:

  • Device model and serial number
  • Measure software version
  • Your account name and contact details
  • Which steps above you already tried
  • Whether files are local or on a network drive
  • CD scheme currently selected

✅ Expected outcome

After completing these steps, speech playback from the CD should be clear and fully pronounced in Measure, with no drop-outs or cut-off audio.

📝 Additional notes

  • Speech CD files must be stored locally on the PC or on a network location Measure can reliably access.
  • Keep Measure updated to the latest version to avoid media compatibility issues.
