⚙️ Before you begin
- Make sure the Measurement Software is open and running.
- You'll need access to Tools → Settings and Control Panel → Sound in Windows.
Step 1: Enable the Hardware Diagnostic Test in software settings
Is the Hardware Diagnostic Test enabled in the Measurement Software settings?
- ✅ Yes → Proceed to Step 2.
- ❌ No → Take these steps:
- Open the Measurement Software.
- Go to Tools → Settings → Common.
- Enable the option for Hardware Diagnostic Test.
- Save the settings and try running the test again.
→ Check if the issue is resolved. If yes - you're done ✓. If no - continue to Step 2.
Step 2: Disconnect all non-essential devices
Are all non-essential devices already disconnected (only USB cable and power supply connected)?
- ✅ Yes → Proceed to Step 3.
- ❌ No → Disconnect all devices from the audiometer board except the USB cable and power supply. Retry the HIT Hardware Diagnostic Test.
→ Check if the issue is resolved. If yes - you're done ✓. If no - continue to Step 3.
Step 3: Verify HIT in Windows sound settings
Is HIT set as the default sound device and default communication device in Windows?
- ✅ Yes → Run the HIT Hardware Diagnostic Test and proceed to the escalation path if it still fails.
- ❌ No → Take these steps:
- Go to Control Panel → Sound.
- Find HIT in the list of playback devices.
- Right-click HIT → Set as Default Device.
- Right-click HIT again → Set as Default Communication Device.
- Run the HIT Hardware Diagnostic Test. You can view or export the results to PDF from within the Measurement Software.
→ Check if the issue is resolved. If yes - you're done ✓. If no - proceed to the escalation path below.
