Support Bulletin 07: Incorrect RETSPL Values In Measure, Unity & Otometrics Measure 6.5.0
Who Is Affected, What To Do Now, And The Permanent Fix In Version 6.5.1
SUPPORT BULLETIN #07 · 19.10.2026
Discontinue installations of 6.5.0. Until version 6.5.1 is available (target release date 26.10.2026), stay on version 6.4.1. If you've already installed or upgraded to 6.5.0 and created new user profiles, follow one of the workarounds below or contact Product Support.
Issue
A software issue has been identified in version 6.5.0. In certain instances, the calibration reference values (RETSPLs) are set incorrectly when a new user profile is created in version 6.5.0. As a result, the transducer output level can deviate compared with the intended level.
The size of the deviation depends on the transducer model, the frequency, and the stimulus type. Maximum output levels are unaffected.
These deviations can affect the results but won't harm the patient, and minimal impact on hearing aid fitting is expected. The effects for pure tones and warbled tones are less than 5 dB for most transducers and 10 dB or less for narrow band noise. These deviations are considered to be within test-retest reliability and therefore, repeating hearing tests and fittings is not necessary. Recorded Speech and Live Voice are unaffected.
Affected systems
- Systems where version 6.5.0 of Auditdata Measure, Unity or Otometrics Measure was newly installed (fresh installation).
- Systems that were upgraded to version 6.5.0 and where a new user profile was created after the upgrade.
Not affected
- Systems upgraded from an earlier version to 6.5.0 where no new user profile has been created since the upgrade.
- Version 6.4.1, and prior versions.
Solution
A permanent fix will be released in version 6.5.1. This update is mandatory for all users who are on 6.5.0. Target release date is 26.10.2026.
Recommendation: Discontinue installations of 6.5.0. Until version 6.5.1 is available, we recommend that customers stay on version 6.4.1.
If you have already installed or upgraded to 6.5.0 with new user profiles and are unable to wait for the release of 6.5.1, you can choose from one of three workarounds. Options 1 and 2 remove all existing user profiles and application settings. Option 3 keeps user settings. You can request support for these instructions from Product Support or your local distributor.
- Option 1: Return to version 6.4.1 (uninstall 6.5.0, remove user profiles and application settings, and reinstall 6.4.1).
- Option 2: Continue using version 6.5.0 (uninstall 6.5.0, remove user profiles and application settings, reinstall 6.4.1, then upgrade to 6.5.0). Repeat this process for any new user profiles created on that system.
- Option 3: Stay on version 6.5.0 and keep user profiles and application settings. This involves replacing the file which controls levels for each user's profile with a corrected one.
Detailed Workaround solution
The step-by-step instructions for all three workarounds can be found in the Support Bulletin 07 document. Use the Download Support Bulletin 07 button below to open it.
Permanent solution
Version 6.5.1 will correct the issue. Target release date is 26.10.2026.
